A brief history of Mayfair
Mayfair – which if you play Monopoly, is the most expensive property on the board – is one of the most exclusive places in London for shopping and living.
We have some of the most stunning and fascinating architecture.
Nowadays, Mayfair has a variety of shops, offices, businesses, hedge funds and increasing number of residential properties as some buildings are turned back to dwellings. On the North border is Oxford Street, Park Lane in the West, Piccadilly in the South and Regent Street in the East.
Mayfair was still farmland in the early 1700s (quite modern day for the rest of London!). The are is named after a fair that was hosted every.... May. Ironically then, that it was the development of the buildings in the area that stopped the fair from taking place.
If you are planning a trip to Mayfair, please drop in for a cup of coffee!
